Matchday Survivor
Competition Rules.
The rules that apply to the current free-to-play Matchday Survivor competition.
Pick. Win. Survive.
Matchday Survivor is designed to be simple: one selection each round and one objective — stay alive.
Pick One Team
Choose exactly one available team in each Survivor round.
They Must Win
Your selected team must win. A draw or defeat eliminates you.
No Team Twice
Once you’ve selected a team, you cannot use that team again in the same competition.
Meet The Deadline
Your selection must be confirmed before the published round deadline.
Missed Pick = Out
An active player who does not make a valid selection in time is eliminated.
Last Survivor Wins
The competition continues until one player remains.
By entering a Matchday Survivor competition, you agree to play in accordance with these rules. The current version is a free-to-play football community competition. There is no paid entry requirement and no cash prize offered under these rules.
Eligibility & Accounts
- Each player must use their own Matchday Survivor account.
- A valid email address may be required and must be verified before the account becomes a valid competition entry.
- Duplicate, automated, fake or abusive accounts may be blocked or removed.
- Administrator accounts are not treated as competition players.
- Matchday Survivor may apply reasonable anti-spam, account-verification and security controls.
Entering A Competition
A Matchday Survivor account is separate from a competition entry. Existing account holders may use the same account for future competitions.
Players must enter the current competition while entries are open.
Once Round 1 Starts
New entries are closed. A player who has not entered before the effective entry cutoff cannot join that competition later.
Selection Deadlines
Each Survivor round has a published selection deadline. Your selection must be successfully confirmed before that deadline.
The current deadline is displayed on the Matchday Survivor player dashboard and may also appear elsewhere on the website.
Players are responsible for allowing enough time to sign in and confirm a valid selection.
Making A Selection
- Select exactly one available team in each round.
- A selection is only valid once it has been confirmed by the Matchday Survivor system.
- A player cannot select a team they have already used in that competition.
- Teams used in a completed competition do not carry over into a new competition.
How You Survive
| Fixture Result | Your Outcome |
|---|---|
| Your selected team wins | You survive and progress to the next round. |
| Your selected team draws | You are eliminated. |
| Your selected team loses | You are eliminated. |
| No valid selection | You are eliminated when the round is processed. |
Confirmed Picks
Once a selection is confirmed, it is intended to remain locked for that round.
An administrator may reset or correct a selection before the applicable deadline where there is a genuine technical, fixture or administrative error.
This correction facility is not intended to allow a player to change their mind after confirming a valid pick.
Postponed, Abandoned Or Changed Fixtures
Football fixtures may occasionally be postponed, abandoned, rescheduled or materially changed.
Where this happens, Matchday Survivor may take reasonable steps to protect the fairness of the competition, including:
- Marking the affected fixture as postponed.
- Delaying processing until the position is clear.
- Resetting affected selections before the relevant deadline where appropriate.
- Removing or replacing an incorrectly entered fixture before the round is locked.
Fairness First
The administrator will aim to apply the same approach consistently to every player affected by the same fixture issue.
Results & Round Processing
A Survivor round is processed after the relevant fixtures have final results recorded in the Matchday Survivor system.
Processing determines which selections survived and which players were eliminated.
Where more than one player remains alive, another Survivor round may be opened.
Winning The Competition
The competition continues until one survivor remains.
When exactly one player remains, that player may be declared the Matchday Survivor competition winner.
The completed competition and winner may remain visible in Matchday Survivor competition history.
Starting A New Competition
A Matchday Survivor competition does not necessarily run for the whole football season.
If a winner is found, the competition may be completed and a completely new competition opened from a later Premier League gameweek.
When a new competition begins:
- New entries reopen.
- Previous players may enter again.
- Previous winners may enter again.
- Previously used teams are reset.
- Each player begins the new competition with a fresh survivor status.
Technical Errors
Matchday Survivor relies on website, database, email and third-party technology.
If a technical error affects a competition, the administrator may take reasonable corrective action to restore the position as fairly as possible.
Examples may include correcting an incorrect fixture, restoring a valid pick, resetting an affected selection before the deadline or correcting an incorrectly entered result.
Abuse & Fair Play
Players must not deliberately attempt to interfere with, manipulate or abuse the Matchday Survivor website, registration system or competition.
Matchday Survivor may remove or block accounts involved in:
- Automated registrations or bots.
- False or misleading account information.
- Deliberate exploitation of technical errors.
- Attempts to bypass selection deadlines or team restrictions.
- Harassment or serious abuse within associated community spaces.
Free-To-Play Status
The current Matchday Survivor competition is free to enter.
Players are not required to stake money or purchase an entry in order to participate under these rules.
The current free community competition is not intended to operate as a betting or gambling service.
Rule Changes
These rules may be updated as Matchday Survivor develops, particularly where new features, competition formats or administrative controls are introduced.
Material changes should normally apply prospectively rather than being used to unfairly alter the outcome of a round already completed.
The latest version will be published on this page.
